Frequently Asked Questions

The gut microbiome is a community of trillions of tiny microbes that live in your digestive tract. These “gut buddies” (or healthy bugs) help break down food, make vitamins, support your immune system, and keep harmful bacteria in check. A diverse microbiome is essential for good digestion, strong immunity, and overall health. Eating a variety of plant foods is one of the best ways to help your microbiome thrive.

A plant point is a way to track the variety of plant foods you eat each week. Each fruit, vegetable, or whole grain counts as one plant point. The more different plants you eat, the more points you collect.

For kids, we’re focused on building a strong foundation. Aiming for 25 plant points is a realistic and exciting starting point that still provides plenty of variety. We believe the body will still gain benefits and diversity from 20 or 25 plants per week. Our board is numbered to 30 because that’s the ultimate goal—but setting too high an expectation right away can feel overwhelming and discourage kids. We recommend starting lower than 25 if your kid is not yet eating a lot of plant diversity and slowly increasing from there.

Absolutely! You know your child best, and starting small is often the key to success. Some families begin with 10 points and build from there. The goal is to make healthy eating fun—not stressful or unattainable.

Neither is mine, if you can believe that! Double sided tape was a quick, easy and affordable solution and it holds the board on the fridge perfectly. Alternatively, we purchased a magnetic board and hung that on our wall and that also worked.
